Back from Philadelphia

I am back from Philadelphia. This trip is both exciting and tried. My friend who lives in Philadelphia is a volleyball coach and he is now working in Temple University. He has invited me to visit Philadelphia many times. It is very convenience to go there. The cheapest way is take bus in China Town. It only take you 10 bucks. My impression of Philadelphia is this city is smaller than New York, but this city is cleaner than New York. Luckily, I met two famous volleyball player in my friend's house. They are the ex national team player of China and now they are studying in Temple. These two ladies are all 190cm tall, this make me fell uncomfortable and a little jealous. Next day, I visited University of Pennsylvania and the liberty bell. The liberty bell is only a bell, but U-penn is very very beautiful. It is a different style from St.Johns. The whole campus looks like a small peace town and the buildings are diaphanous. Sunday morning, I visited Philadelphia museum of art. My friend told me that the museum in Washington DC is more excellent. Then I decide to go to Washington DC next time.

Thanksgiving day

What a bad weather today!!! I planned to join the macys's thanksgiving pageant, which is the traditional item in Thanksgiving day, in Manhattan today, but the bad weather cancelled my plan. Then I went to my friends Jason's house instead of going out. Jason is a high school boy in a military high school which is located in Pennsylvania. We had known each other in Shanghai. He told me lots interesting stories happened in his school. He told me that everyday morning they were marching 3km with a 30kg package and the last 10 boys would be asked to clean the classroom. They have lots of physical practise such as horizontal bar and push-up every night. This cause that he looks much stronger and more mettled than he was in Shanghai. I believed that his mother will happen to see his change. He also told me that his school will offer pilot course next year. It's amazing! I feel a little bit jealousy. I had thanksgiving dinner with them and we ate chafing dish and turkey. To be honest, the turkey is not as tasty as I thought.

Money

Money plays a decisive role to individuals, to families and even to countries or nationalities. There exist a Chinese proverb “one cent short may put a hero in an awkward situation” Otherwise, why is everyone, from doorkeepers to presidents, trying to earn as much as possible? Why does every country need Chancellors of the Exchequer, who keep formulating and revising financial laws and regulations? How different it is to be a creditor nation and a debtor nation! The United States is playing the tyrant just because it is wealthy enough. A poor man may cherish lofty aspirations, but will probably be beaten because of his poverty. The Afghanistan may have won a lot of sympathy, but how difficult it would be to live solely on charity. We are living in a material world, and it's really difficult to deny the function of money or wealth. We need money for food, clothes, education, hospital, housing and transportation, etc. There's rarely anything that doesn't need money

The Million-Pound Note

I still remember an old The English film “the Million-Pound Note” , which I saw when I was in high school . The film makes a most vivid revelation of such a situation: A guy hold a million pound note and with the million pound note in hand, the guy has the privilege to buy on credit or on loan and is even presented money from others. It's an idealized end of the story that the hero is still loved by his girl friend even after he lost his million-pound note. However, without the million-pound note, they couldn't have known each other. It's very difficult for people to make friends directly with beggars.
Until now I always think about a question: If I have million pound, How will I spend the money?
I used to have lot of answers, but now I think I would like to use all the money to establish a real Chinese restaurant in New York :-P

Olympic 2008 in Bei Jing

In 2001, in the Moscow world trade center, when the former chairman of the International Olympic Committee, Samaranch had said: "Beijing, China!" As a Chinese, I had a great joy for my home country from the bottom of my heart! But after the excitement that Beijing had been succeed in the race to host the Olympic Game in 2008. I started to worry about the dusty air, the sandstorm, the polluted rivers and lakes; the streets without any green and whether we could successfully host the Olympic Games in 2008. Therefore the Beijing government had made a great effort in order to protect the environment, build more "Green project", keep the ecological balance, push the recycling economy, and protect the water resource. But if only the government take the action to realize the Green Olympics in 2008, its not enough. All the Chinese people especially the people live in BeiJing should play an active role in the actions aimed at the realization of Green Olympics.

In spite of the human civilizations over thousands of years, people cannot deny the function of money. This shows how important money is. There's rarely anything that doesn't need money, but whether money is almighty? The answer is absolutely not! I believed there exist some thing in the world cannot be affected by money such as life and love.

I can clearly remember when I was ten years old I was transferred from the elementary school in the countryside to the school in the city, far away from my home. I had no choice but to live in one of my relatives’ near my school. This transition changed me a lot and even formed the foundation of what I am today. Before I went to the city, I was a naughty child caring nothing but play. I had many friends of similar age to me. We played together and had a lot fun. But after, this situation was totally changed because the atmosphere in the city was far different from that in the countryside. For the students from city always looked down on those from the countryside. I felt the cold shoulder for the first time in my life: I had no friends, no fun, but solitude, and even some bad guys called me “clodhopper” sometimes, which greatly injured my self-esteem. I could do nothing but studied hard to be an outstanding student. This is why I was so excellent in elementary school study. And also through this way, I won the esteem from my classmates, and even teachers. More important, during this period, I began to be adapted to solitude little by little. Then I learned how to use the time effectively and how to control myself, which greatly exceeded the students of the same age with me. Till now, I still benefit from these.

Yesterday I finally received my Combination's mid-term score. I should knew it last week, but my professor cancelled the course last week. The score, which I have looking for 2 weeks, is not as good as I thought. It is supposed to be A, but the professor only gave me a B-. I felt frustrated because I had spent lots of times on it. Then the professor said that she did not satisfy about our mid-term. The reason is that there are too much "c", it is unexpected. She thought that we should have more B in the exam. It is so glad to heard that I am still a member of the top students. And I found that the professor had taught much slower than usual, then the class became a little boring.
Today I bought a coat in Macys, because I fell my clothing are not enough for the winter here. I like Macys, it is capacious and not many customers. The waiters only come to you when you call them. So I feel free in it
